Stocks on the move Real-time Equity news U.S. stock
market report 1023 ET 21Dec2009-Wall St's "lost decade"
has silver lining. With the benchmark S&P 500 down about
10 percent for the last 10 years, U.S. investors are set
to wrap up what would go down in history as the "lost
decade" in terms of stock market returns, says
Keith Springer, president of Capital Financial Advisory
Services in Sacramento, California. Even so, it is
probably the Japanese investors who have had more
misfortune, he added. "We can be thankful that we are
not sharing the experience of the Japanese investor, who
is just finishing their second 'lost decade' in a row!,"
Springer said in a note. "Although the problems are
similar with an aging population turning into net savers
from net spenders, we do not believe that our problems
are exactly the same as the Japanese."
